Stockholm

A capital spread across fourteen islands. Its metro is called 'the world's longest art gallery'.

Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) and Bromma (BMA)

Arlanda's railway station charges its own passage fee - an SL ticket alone will not open the gates. Fastest is the 18-minute Arlanda Express; cheapest is changing at Märsta to bus 583 - arriving by bus skips the fee.

How to ride

  1. 1
The railway station is inside Sky City
Arlanda C, where the commuter trains and long-distance trains stop, sits inside Sky City between Terminals 4 and 5.
  2. 2
    Fastest option - Arlanda Express
It has two stations, one for Terminals 2-4 and one for Terminal 5. Buy at the machines by the escalators or in its own app.
  3. 3
Cheaper by rail - commuter line 40
Take line 40 from Arlanda C - 38 minutes to Stockholm C in the city, or 18 minutes to Uppsala.
  4. 4
Buy the passage ticket to clear the gates
An ordinary SL ticket will not open the gates. Add a passage ticket in the app, or at the desks on either side of the gate line.
  5. 5
Cheapest of all - change at Märsta
Ride the commuter train to Märsta and change to bus 583. Entering the airport by bus means no passage fee at all.
  6. 6
    For Bromma, take tram 31
The tram stop is on your left as you leave the terminal; ride line 31 and change at Alvik for the green metro line.

Heads-up

  • Only contracted taxis outside arrivals have a capped fare

Never follow a driver who approaches you inside the arrivals hall. The taxis contracted with Swedavia queue directly outside arrivals at Terminals 5 and 2, and only they are bound by the capped fare. Swedish taxi pricing is deregulated, so a non-contracted car has no ceiling at all.
