Ruter boats (båt / the island boats)
Oslo's boats are ordinary public transport - the same zone ticket as the tram and metro, and every harbour island is zone 1. The exception: the Bygdøy museum ferry is a separate company and takes no Ruter tickets.

How to ride
- 1Check how many zones you needEnter start and destination in the Ruter app and it works out the zones - by boat you may cross more zones than by bus.
- 2Buy the ticket in the app before you boardBuy a single or 24-hour ticket right there in the app, paying by card or Vipps - or get a physical travel card from a kiosk.
- 3Head for the Aker brygge piersB1 to the islands - joined by B1X and B2 in summer - and B10 to Nesodden all leave Aker brygge; only B11 starts from Lysaker.
- 4Make sure the ticket is activeAn app ticket is already active when you buy it; a physical card must be tapped on the reader on board.
- 5Missed it? Buy from the crew in cashBoats and buses are the only places you can buy after boarding - cash only, and they will not take a note larger than 200 kroner.

The Bygdøy museum ferry needs its own ticket
The Bygdøy museum ferry from Rådhusbrygge 3 by the City Hall is not a Ruter route - no Ruter ticket or zone pass is valid on it, so you buy a separate ticket at the pier.
