Ruter buses (bybuss, regionbuss, nattbuss)
No tapping a bank card to ride - but buses and boats are the only places still selling on board: cash only, no notes over 200 kroner, dearer than in advance. A zone-1 ticket gives 60 minutes across tram, metro and boat.

How to ride
- 1Get a ticket before you boardBuy a single ticket in the Ruter app, or pick up a physical Reisekort travel card at a Narvesen, 7-Eleven or Mix kiosk.
- 2Not sorted? Buy on board with cashIf you did not manage that, you can buy a single ticket on board the bus - cash only, and dearer than buying in advance.
- 3Activate the ticket as you get onTap your Reisekort on the card reader on board as you get on - an unactivated card counts as no ticket at all.
- 4Front-door lines - show the driverOn lines that only let you board at the front, show your ticket to the driver without waiting to be asked.
- 5Transfer on the same ticketWhile there is time left on your ticket you can transfer to trams, the metro and boats within the same zones.
- 6Keep the ticket until you are offInspectors can be in plain clothes - keep your ticket with you until you have got off.
