Porto Tram City Tour (historic trams)

Historic trams 1, 18 and 22 sit outside Andante: no Tour pass, single or 24-hour ticket works. Tickets are sold only on board - EUR 6 an adult single, paid by card or MB WAY; cash is never mentioned officially.

How to ride

    Wait at the tram stop
    Tickets are not sold at stations or from machines - only on board.

    Buy as you board
    Say whether you want a single, a two-trip or a two-day ticket, and pay by contactless card or MB WAY.

    Keep the ticket until you get off
    You must show it to inspectors out of your wallet, in a form they can take and check.

    With a monthly pass, check the zones
    An Andante monthly pass is valid here if it carries the PRT1 and PRT2 zones.

    Buy a separate ticket for metro or bus
    The Andante transfer window does not cover this tram - buy a separate Andante ticket for the metro or a bus.

Heads-up

  • Line 22 is running again though guides still say closed

    Line 22 was suspended from November 2021 for the Metro do Porto expansion works and only returned to service on 1 August 2026. Travel guides and tourist sites still describe it as suspended, so check STCP's own pages for whether it is running. It has only just come back, and short suspensions or diversions would not be surprising for a while.

  • The Guindais funicular is closed, so you walk up the hill

    The Funicular dos Guindais, the cable railway between Ribeira and Batalha, is closed for maintenance. It is run by STCP Serviços, and no reopening date is given on the official page. Getting from the riverside up to the hill means walking or finding another way.

  • The Cartão Porto. is for residents, not visitors

    STCP also lists the Cartão Porto. as valid on the trams, but that is a free municipal card for Porto residents and students living in the city, and visitors cannot get one. The name reads like a tourist card, so do not go looking for it.
