Prague trams (tramvaj)
No gates, and the driver sells nothing - the on-board terminal takes contactless cards only, no cash. A paper ticket is stamped once, right after boarding: unstamped or twice-stamped is void; the spot fine is 1,200 CZK.

Petřín funicular closed
The Petřín funicular (Újezd-Petřín, run by DPP) is out of service for a complete rebuild of the track and construction of new cars. DPP expects trial operation with passengers to begin at the turn of summer and autumn 2026.
How to ride
- 1Buy before boarding if you only have cashBuy a paper ticket at a stop or metro station machine: button ones take coins only, touchscreens also take contactless cards.
- 2On board, buy at the middle-door terminalOn trams the ticket terminal is at the middle door - tap a card to buy. It takes no cash, and drivers do not sell tickets.
- 3Stamp a paper ticket once, right after boardingSlide it into the yellow validator, arrow first. Do not stamp again when transferring - a twice-stamped ticket is void.
- 4Tickets from the terminal or app are not stampedTickets from the on-board terminal or the app are valid from the moment they are issued - never put them in a validator.
- 5Keep the ticket on you until you get offInspectors show a numbered metal badge; on request they must also show a photo ID card with the same number.
- 6After midnight, switch to the night tramsDaytime lines 1-26 stop running around midnight and night lines 91-99 take over, all meeting at the Lazarská stop.

Heritage tram 42 is a separate fare
Heritage tram 42, which loops around the castle and the centre, is a tourist service - ordinary PID tickets, including the 24-hour one, are not valid on it at all, and a conductor comes round selling its own day ticket. Nostalgic line 23 uses equally old cars but runs on the normal PID fare, so check the number.
