The fastest and most comfortable way around Dhaka. Ride with a single-journey ticket or an MRT/Rapid Pass (10% discount). Note that Friday service starts in the afternoon.

How to ride

    Buy a ticket
    Buy a single-journey ticket from a machine or counter (distance-based). If you ride often, an MRT/Rapid Pass gives a discount.

    Pass the security check
    There is a baggage check at the station entrance. Large luggage may take extra time.
  3. 3
    Tap in at the gate
    Tap your ticket or pass on the gate reader.
  4. 4
    Check the direction and board
    Northbound trains head to Uttara North, southbound to Motijheel. Check the platform signs. No eating or drinking on board.
  5. 5
    Tap out at your destination
    Insert your single-journey ticket into the exit gate (it is collected). Tap out with your pass.

Heads-up

  • Lose the single-journey ticket and you cannot exit

    You need your single-journey ticket to exit. If you lose it, you cannot pass the gate and may be charged a penalty fare.

  • No trains on Friday mornings until the afternoon

    No service on Friday mornings (trains start around 15:00). Expect heavy crowds during morning and evening rush hours.

  • A women-only coach runs; an extension is being built

    A women-only coach is available. The extension to Kamalapur is under construction (planned for 2026).
