Dhaka

A South Asian megacity humming with rickshaws. The metro, open since 2022, is changing how the city moves.

Airport Access

From Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, ride-hailing (Uber/Pathao) is the way into the city. Avoid touts in arrivals - a pre-booked transfer is another reliable option.

How to ride

  1. 1
    Get a SIM/eSIM and cash
SIM counters and ATMs are in the arrivals hall. Get connectivity for ride-hailing apps.
  2. 2
Request a ride on the app
Go to the designated pickup point. The terminal front is chaotic - set your pin carefully and add a landmark.
  3. 3
    Head into the city
Outside late-night hours, plan around heavy traffic. A pre-booked transfer gives you a fixed price and a guaranteed pickup.

Heads-up

  • Touts in the arrivals hall overcharge

Touts in the arrivals hall may charge several times the going rate. Always use an app, a pre-booked transfer, or the official counter.

  • A metro line to the airport is still under construction

A metro line to the airport (MRT Line 1) is under construction (planned around 2026). Once open, it will change airport access significantly.
