How to ride
- 1Buy your ticket before you boardTram stops have no ticket machines. Buy in the WienMobil app, at a Trafik tobacconist, or from a machine in a U-Bahn station.
- 2No ticket? Head straight for the machine on boardBuy from the machine as soon as you step on. The on-tram price is higher and change is not guaranteed, so carry coins.
- 3Stamp a paper ticket the moment you're onPush a paper ticket with a validation strip into the Entwerter on board - it is not valid until it is stamped.
- 4Ride through to your destinationA single ticket covers one continuous trip. Transfers are fine, but the ticket dies the moment you break the journey.
- 5Keep your ticket in hand until you step offInspectors board at any time. Keep the ticket with you until you get off, and hand it over if asked.

A broken validator is no excuse for riding without a ticket
If the validator is broken or you cannot find one, do not simply ride. The tariff rules tell you to buy a mobile ticket instead, or to buy from the driver. Anyone found at an inspection without a valid ticket pays the surcharge and, on top of it, the fare for the ride.
