How to ride
- 1Buy the ticket before you walk to the stopBuses carry no ticket machine and no conductor. Buy first at a U-Bahn station machine, at a tobacconist, or in the WienMobil app.
- 2Stamp a paper ticket as you boardPush a strip-type paper ticket into the on-board validator right after you get on. Unstamped counts the same as no ticket.
- 3Keep the ticket on you until you are offPlain-clothes inspectors board without warning. Hand the ticket over for checking when asked.
- 4After midnight, look for the N routesFrom 00:30 to 05:00 the N routes run every 30 minutes. Their stops are marked with a blue sign and a yellow "N".
- 5Buy a separate ticket for the airport busesAirport buses and Flixbus are outside the city ticket. The zone edge is Schwechat, and beyond it you need a separate ticket.

Operating hours（Limited）Daytime bus routes wind down around midnight - many stop earlier than the U-Bahn - after which the Nightline network takes over: more than 20 routes run every night from roughly 00:30 to 05:00 at 30-minute intervals, with numbers starting with N (N71 and so on). The interchange hubs are Oper/Karlsplatz, Schwedenplatz and Schottentor, and Nightline stops carry a blue sign with a yellow N. Separately, some N routes are phone-order Rufbus services that run at the timetabled time only if someone books them. On Friday and Saturday nights and the nights before public holidays the U-Bahn itself runs all night at 15-minute intervals. There is no official blanket statement of first and last departures or headways by day, so check the timetable for the individual route.

Rufbus routes only run if you phone ahead
Some routes and route sections run as "Rufbus" services, by day as well as by night, and only when ordered - so the bus will not turn up unless you call. Phone 01 7909 424 plus the two digits of the line at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time and give your name, party size, luggage, stop and destination. The driver asks for your name before letting you on.
