Vienna
Palaces and the opera house line the Ring, and Vienna's famous trams trace the loop around them.
Vienna International Airport (VIE) access
City tickets do not reach the airport - every trip needs its own ticket. The stopping S7 and the 15-minute Railjet both cost EUR 5.50, so speed is not the premium. Only the nonstop CAT and the airport buses cost extra.

The CAT runs as a bus from 7 September 2026
From 7 September 2026 to 31 October 2027 the City Airport Train stops running trains and links Wien Mitte with the airport by premium bus instead. Journey times and boarding points both change, so leave extra time if you are flying in this window.
How to ride

Heads-up
-
Taxi touts in the arrivals hall are illegal
Do not take up taxi offers from people who approach you inside the arrivals hall. The airport states outright that this is illegal touting and that many of those doing it do not even hold the required licence. Use the official rank just outside the hall.
-
Airport taxi fares are unregulated - agree the total first
A taxi to or from the airport does not work like one inside the city. The airport lies outside the state of Vienna, so the binding municipal taxi tariff does not apply and the price may be set freely. Agree the total before you set off rather than trusting the meter.
