Shared e-bikes (Lime)

Bike share is one fleet: Lime e-bikes, riders 16 and over. Helmets are compulsory at all times, and each bike carries one. There is no public price list - the rate the app shows before you unlock is all there is.

How to ride

    Install the Lime app and add a payment method
    Install the Lime app, add a payment method before you go looking for a bike, and note you must be 16 or over.

    Scan the QR code to unlock
    Find a nearby bike on the app's map and scan the QR code on it to unlock. The rate appears in the app before you unlock.

    Put the helmet on before you ride
    Unclip the helmet from the cable lock on the bike and put it on - Victorian law requires one at all times.

    Ride on the road or in a bike lane
    Ride on the road, in bike lanes or on shared paths - keep left and give way to pedestrians on shared paths.
  5. 5
    Park in a designated area and end the trip
    Park upright in a parking area inside the service zone, submit the end-of-trip photo and wait for the app to confirm.

Quick facts

Heads-up

  • Riding outside the service area can incur a penalty

    Ride beyond the service area and you can be charged a penalty. The area is drawn on the map in the app, so check your destination is inside it before you set off.

  • Bad parking brings a charge and can ban your account

    Park badly and Lime can bill you up to A$50, rising with how often and how severely you break the rules, and can ban your account. Check the map in the app before you leave the bike anywhere.

  • No footpath riding once you are 13 or older

    Anyone aged 13 or over may not ride on the footpath, unless accompanying a child under 13. E-bikes follow the same road rules as ordinary bicycles, and Victoria Police enforce them.
