    Fares go up on 13 December

    Libero fares change at the timetable change on 13 December 2026, rising by 3.5% on average, so the amounts in the table below stop applying from that date. If your stay spans the changeover, check the date before stocking up on multi-ride cards.

How to ride

    Get your ticket before you board
    Buy at the machine at the stop or in the öV Plus app; only some buses carry a machine on board.

    Stamp an undated ticket as you board
    An undated ticket goes into the on-board validator as you board; dated and app tickets need nothing.
  3. 3
    Change vehicles on the same ticket
    Within the zones and minutes printed on your ticket, switch freely between bus, tram and train. Not on a short-distance ticket.
  4. 4
    Keep the ticket until you get off
    There are no gates; inspectors work on board. Keep the ticket on you until the journey ends.

Heads-up

  • The 30 minutes on a short-distance ticket allow no transfer

    A short-distance ticket is valid for 30 minutes but it does not allow a change of vehicle. Reading the 30 minutes as permission to hop onto a tram leaves you on the second vehicle without a valid ticket, and facing a surcharge of at least CHF 75 for a first offence. If you plan to change, buy the zone 100/101 single instead.

  • The ticket must be in hand before the vehicle moves

    You must already hold a valid ticket when the vehicle pulls away. Buying in an app or checking in has to be finished before departure, and there is no one- or two-minute grace period. Inspectors do not weigh intent; they only look at whether a valid ticket exists.
