Taxis and ride-hailing

A rank, a phone call or an app - whatever turns up is a licensed taxi. Fares are set freely with no legal ceiling, except leaving Arlanda airport, where contracted firms cap the price all the way to Uppsala.

How to ride

    Take one at a rank, or call or book by app
    At a rank you need not take the first car in the queue, and an Uber or Bolt is a licensed taxi too.

    Compare the yellow comparison price
    Read the sticker on the outside of the car before you get in - it prices a 10 km, 15-minute trip and differs by firm.

    Ask for a fixed price before you set off
    Say so before the car moves if you want a flat price; the local firms quote fixed prices for airport runs.

    Check that the meter is running
    An agreed flat price is entered into the meter too, and the driver's permit is on display inside the car.

    Pay at the terminal in the car
    App rides settle in the app; with a street taxi, check with the firm what it takes.

    Take the meter receipt
    Even paying by card, take it separately from the card slip - it carries the plate and the driver code.

Heads-up

  • Do not take a car that approaches you in arrivals

    Never follow a driver who offers you a ride inside the arrivals hall at Arlanda. Only drivers meeting a pre-booked passenger may wait in there, so anyone who approaches you has no contract with the airport - and no capped price. The contracted firms line up directly outside arrivals at Terminal 5 and outside Terminal 2.

  • The cap only applies leaving the airport

    The cap is written for rides from Arlanda to an address inside the zone, so a ride from Uppsala out to the airport is not covered. Book a fixed price by phone or app for the outbound trip and settle the number first. A ride that leaves the zone also switches to the meter from the moment it crosses out.
