Lifts (step-free)（Limited）89.4% of surface vehicles carry a manual ramp or a lift (measured at the end of 2025; the 2026 target is 75%). The ATM app now shows in real time whether the approaching bus, trolleybus or tram and the stop itself are accessible, and stops with electronic displays mark an accessible vehicle with a wheelchair icon next to the waiting time.

Operating hoursBus lines start between 05:30 and 06:00 and finish between 00:30 and 01:45; trolleybus lines 90 and 91 are the exception and run continuously. The surface network has three timetables - winter, summer and August - and in 2026 the summer one runs from 27 June to 6 September (lines 4, 9, 14, 16, 24, 27, 43, 49, 54, 56, 57, 90, 91, 95 and all suburban lines switch on 4 July and back on 31 August). From 3 to 28 August weekdays run the Saturday timetable (lines 140 and 923 excepted, joined from 24 August by 423, 424, 431, 433, 528, 542, 560, 561 and 566), and Saturdays 22 and 29 August run the holiday timetable, with only lines 39, 55, 89, 130, 132, 140, 151-154, 352, 423, 424, 431, 433, 528, 542, 560, 561, 566, 705, 707, 783 and 965 keeping the normal Saturday one. Headways on the trunk lines are 4-12 minutes at peak and 6-15 off peak in winter, 6-12 and 7-15 in summer, 8-20 and 8-16 in August; other lines run 7-20 and 9-30 in winter, 8-30 and 10-30 in summer, 11-30 in August. After 21:00 the whole surface network drops to 15-30 minutes. Overnight, the metro-replacement lines NM1-NM4 plus 90/91 and N25/N26 run every night except 30 April, 1 May, 24 December and 25 December - but only NM3 (San Donato to Comasina) and NM4 (Linate to San Cristoforo) cover their metro line end to end. NM2 runs only between Cascina Gobba and Abbiategrasso, serving neither the Cologno branch nor anything between Gobba and Gessate, and NM1 is split into two halves (Quartiere degli Olmi-Bisceglie-Cairoli and Sesto 1 Maggio-Molino Dorino) that meet at Cadorna, Conciliazione and Pagano. There is no night line matching M5. Eight more lines - N15, N24, N27, N42, N54, N57, N80 and N84 - are added only on Friday, Saturday and pre-holiday nights. The Radiobus (Q lines) is a dial-a-ride service every night from 22:00 to 02:00. On 25 December and 1 May service is cut back to roughly 07:00-19:30.
