Helsinki Airport (HEL) access

No special airport fare: one ordinary ABC ticket covers the trip. The station sits beneath the terminal, about 30 minutes to Central Station by train. When trains pause overnight, bus 600 keeps going every half hour.

How to ride

    Go down to the station under the terminal
    The station is directly beneath the terminal, with lifts and escalators leading down to it from the arrivals hall.

    Buy an ABC ticket
    The airport is in zone C and the centre in zone A, so buy an ABC ticket - in the HSL app or at the machine on the platform.

    Take the P train from platform 1
    From the airport the P train on platform 1 is quickest; board an I train only if it is signed for Helsinki.

    Keep your ticket to the end
    There are no gates, so walk straight to the platform; show the ticket only when an inspector or conductor asks.

    After the last train, take bus 600
    Through the night bus 600 leaves for Central Station about every 30 minutes, from the stops in front of the arrivals level.

    Pick a taxi from the four lanes in arrivals
    The rank has one lane per company with prices posted, so you choose; app-booked cars wait in the P2 parking hall.

Heads-up

  • Onboard readers lose contactless if the connection drops

    The onboard card readers lose contactless payment when their data connection drops. Boarding at the airport without managing to buy a ticket still counts as fare evasion, so having an app ticket or a paper ticket from the machine first is the safe move.
