Barcelona

A Mediterranean city dotted with Gaudí's architecture. Beneath the grid of the Eixample, the metro runs everywhere.

Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN)

Only the two airport metro stations on L9 Sud sit outside the integrated fares - arrive on a single or T-casual and you must buy the Airport ticket just to leave. Train R2 and bus 46 take your ordinary integrated ticket.

How to ride

  1. 1
Decide on your ticket before you set off
Only a few tickets work at the airport metro stations; turn up with an ordinary integrated one and you cannot leave the station.
  2. 2
By metro, board L9 Sud at T1 or T2
Follow the L9 Sud signs from arrivals, buy the Airport ticket at a machine, and validate it at the gate.
  3. 3
    Board the Aerobús - A1 at T1, A2 at T2
It leaves from the stop outside arrivals around the clock; buy from the staff at the stop, a machine, or on the bus itself.
  4. 4
By train, board at the T2 station
The R2 Nord station sits on level 0 of T2; between the terminals you take the free shuttle bus.
  5. 5
Take bus 46 to Plaça Espanya
It is an ordinary TMB bus, so your integrated fare works; you can also tap a bank card on the on-board reader.
  6. 6
Queue at the official taxi rank
Join the queue at the rank opposite arrivals, and ignore anyone who approaches you offering a ride.

Heads-up

  • Only the black-and-yellow taxis are official

The only official taxis are the black-and-yellow ones. Don't follow anyone who approaches you in the arrivals hall - join the queue at the rank opposite arrivals. At T2 there is a rank outside each of T2A, T2B and T2C.

  • Aerobús combined tickets are vouchers to swap in the city

Buy an Aerobús combined ticket - with a metro ticket or a travel card - on their site and what you get is a voucher, not the ticket itself. You swap it at a metro vending machine in the city; the machines at the T1 and T2 airport stations will not do it.
