    Tuk-tuks: fix the fare before boarding
    Counter at about half the quote and agree the fare before you get in.

    Wins: find the orange vests
    State your destination at a stand - stands sit at station exits and soi mouths. A numbered orange vest marks a licensed driver.

    MuvMi: book by app and hop on
    Book in the app, walk to the pickup point, and scan the QR code on the tuk-tuk to board. Rides are shared, fares fixed.

    Pay in exact cash
    Pay the agreed amount in exact cash on tuk-tuks and wins - change often runs out. MuvMi settles from the wallet; just hop off.

  • A cheap tuk-tuk city tour is the gem-scam funnel

    A tuk-tuk offering a "20-40 baht city tour" is the classic gem-scam funnel - as is anyone telling you the Grand Palace is "closed today". You'll be steered into gem shops and tailors. Decline the too-good deal and walk away.

  • Motorbike taxis are the riskiest - helmets are the law

    Motorcycle taxis are statistically the riskiest way around Bangkok. Helmets are required by law - if you're not offered one, ask.
