Bangkok

Temples and skyscrapers share the skyline. To escape the traffic, ride the elevated BTS or the river boats.

Anywheel (เอนี่วีล)

A dockless bike share run entirely from its app - a foreign SIM works for signup, and rides cost 10 baht per 30 minutes. Roads are left-hand and thick with motorbikes; stick to parks and bike lanes.

How to ride

  1. 1
Get the app and sign up
Get the Anywheel app from the App Store or Google Play and sign up with your phone number - a foreign SIM works fine.
  2. 2
    Top up the wallet
Top up the in-app wallet or buy a pass before riding. Whether foreign cards work is unverified - test one early.
  3. 3
Find a bike on the map
Find a bike on the app map - parks, BTS/MRT stations, malls and universities. Check a return spot near your destination too.
  4. 4
    Scan to unlock
Scan the QR on the bike to unlock (keep Bluetooth and GPS on). Check the saddle height and brakes before setting off.
  5. 5
Stick to parks and bike lanes
Thailand drives on the left, and the roads teem with motorbikes - not beginner territory. Stay on park paths and bike lanes.
  6. 6
End at a designated spot and lock
End at a designated spot (blue "P" on the app map). Pull the rear-wheel lock down, then scan the QR posted there to end the trip.
