Get an EasyCard first: it rides the MRT, buses and local TRA trains, unlocks YouBike once registered, and it alone carries the MRT-to-bus transfer discount. Since July 2026 your own contactless card or phone opens the MRT gates too, but earns no discounts - and buses still run on EasyCard or cash, tapped on boarding and again on alighting, with no change given. Past the metro gates, eating and drinking are banned under fine. And tapping an EasyCard onto a TRA express buys you standing room only.
