Portugal
Lisbon
A city of seven hills above the Atlantic. The yellow trams that climb them are sights in themselves.
At the metro gates you simply tap a bank card, though the only networks the operator names are the Visa and Mastercard families. The base is the navegante ocasional card: pre-load a 1-hour ticket and it covers metro, buses and trams for the hour. Tap a bank card on a bus or tram instead and you pay the dearest on-board fare, with no transfers. Suburban trains split by operator - Fertagus over the Tagus takes a card tap, CP's Sintra and Cascais lines do not. The Tagus ferries run on the navegante card too, and the Lisboa Card covers no ferries.
