Italy
Venice
A city where canals stand in for streets. Cars stop at the gateway square; beyond it, walk or ride the vaporetto.
Venice fares split in two: water and land. The 75-minute land ticket for buses, trams and the People Mover never boards a boat; the vaporetto needs a water-route ticket. A bank card taps you onto both; one card tops out at the day-pass level, on land only on the mainland network. Tap-out duty splits: boats and the People Mover need none, buses and trams do, and skipping it bills the network's highest fare. Marco Polo airport sits outside city fares - no 1-7-day pass or single works - and its supplement sells only with the pass, never later.
