The 100E airport bus takes one ticket only - its own. An ordinary single, a travelcard and a Classic Budapest Card are all invalid on it. The cheap route is the 200E plus metro M3, where ordinary tickets still work.

How to ride

    Head for the bus stops on the arrivals level
    Come out on the arrivals level and walk to the bus stops between the two terminals; the 100E and 200E both leave there.

    Get the ticket that the 100E actually takes
    The 100E only accepts its own ticket. Buy it at the BKK counters on the arrivals level of T2A and T2B, or from a machine.

    Board at the front door and tap on board
    Boarding is front-door only. Tapping a bank card on the Pay&GO unit inside the bus buys and validates in one action.

    Get off at one of three city-centre stops
    The bus drops you at Kálvin tér, Astoria and Deák Ferenc tér, and all three connect to the metro.

    For the cheap route, take the 200E and change to the M3
    Take the 200E to Kőbánya-Kispest and change to metro M3. Ordinary tickets and passes work here; the 100E ticket does not.

    Order a taxi at the booth outside the terminal
    Book at the Főtaxi booth by the T2A or T2B exit and take the car waiting out front. Uber riders order in the app.

Heads-up

  • A big note will not buy the airport ticket

    The ticket machines will not take a big note for a small purchase. A 10,000 HUF note only works from 5,005 HUF upwards, so it will not buy a 2,500 HUF airport ticket - pay by card or bring smaller notes.

  • Book at the exit booths, not from touts

    Do not go with the taxi touts who approach you inside the terminal. The airport's contracted operator is Főtaxi, booked at the booths by the T2A and T2B exits. Licensed cars are yellow with yellow plates, marked qualified Budapest taxi on the left front door, and display the official fare table inside.

  • Pay&GO: show the device you paid with at inspection

    If you bought with Pay&GO you must show the very card or device you paid with when an inspector checks. A phone or watch that runs flat cannot prove the ticket and earns a penalty fare, so check the battery when you land.
