Belgium
Brussels
A capital radiating from the cobbled Grand-Place. On the metro, trams and buses, tap a bank card and ride.
Metro, tram and bus take a contactless bank card: a tap buys and validates, and the same card caps the day under the paper day ticket. The transport rules list only Visa and Mastercard products — no JCB, Amex or UnionPay. Trains have no tap-to-ride and sell nothing on board — buy first; one Brupass covers train, metro, tram and bus regionwide. STIB, De Lijn and TEC share the streets with separate tickets and readers. Airport bus 12 is asymmetric: any STIB ticket rides it out, but leaving needs the Airport2City ticket, outside the daily cap.
