Switzerland
Zurich
Switzerland's largest city, set on a lake. Blue trams come every few minutes, right on time.
No gates, no bank-card tap to ride: buy from the ZVV app or a stop machine first - trams and buses sell nothing on board. No transit IC card exists for visitors; a credit card only pays at machines and in the app. One zone ticket covers tram, bus, S-Bahn and lake boats, transfers free while it runs. The trap is the count - city zone 110 counts as two, the airport trip takes a 3-zone ticket, and a short ticket draws a surcharge even first time. The app's check-in mode or a Zürich Card (24/72 hours, airport zone included) skips the arithmetic.
