Your base is a ride code — in WeChat, the Shenzhen Tong app or the metro app — or a Shenzhen Tong card. From June 30, 2026 the metro also takes overseas bank cards, still a trial, only at gates with the acceptance mark. Buses take none of this: Shenzhen Tong or cash, no change. On trams, the metro's day ticket and app code don't work. Intercity rail is real-name: no paper ticket — the passport you bought with is the ticket; use the staffed gate. App-hailed cars are electric by law; street taxis run on set meters. Shared bikes need sign-up.
