New York
Yellow cabs thread the skyscraper canyons. The subway runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
For the subway and buses you buy nothing: tap your own contactless card or phone on the OMNY reader - even JCB and UnionPay credit cards work. There is no unlimited pass; keep tapping the same card and a seven-day cap kicks in, with a free subway-bus transfer on that card. OMNY's reach ends there: the commuter railroads, PATH and the ferries charge their own separate fares - only PATH takes your contactless card, as its own system. Tap with the card out of your wallet, or the first card read gets charged. Anyone offering you a ride is illegal.
