Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur
A tropical capital under the Petronas Towers. Elevated LRT lines and a monorail glide above the streets.
Buy a Touch 'n Go card first: it carries you through the LRT, MRT and Monorail gates, onto the buses, the KTM train to Batu Caves, and even the KLIA Ekspres airport line. Unlike London or Taipei, credit-card tap-to-ride has not reached the city gates yet - the KLIA Ekspres gates are the one exception. Cash buys tokens at rail stations, but Rapid KL buses refuse it. The unlimited Kembara Pass covers the Rapid network only, never KTM. This is where Grab was born and it is still the answer for rides - some street taxis still dodge the meter.
